Our names are Bob & Carol Davies and we are the owners of the Black Lion Inn.

Situated in Butterton, near Leek, we are in a very quiet rural area, but are near many local attractions which offer something for the young and old alike.

The Black Lion Inn has a traditional open fires, and a walker's bar for those wishing to have a meal and drink after a long day's walk. Our menu caters for all tastes and uses fine quality meat from Bagshaws Butchers, Butterton. Their steaks and mixed grills are excellent and used in our special Black Lion Steak which is topped with cheese and leak sauce. We also cater for vegetarians. Bookings are welcome and large groups or parties, who can be accomadated in our dining room which also has an open fire.

Lunch can be ordered from noon everyday except Mondays when we do not open the bar and resturant until 7pm. During the spring and summer months, meals are also served in our attractive beer garden / outdoor dining area.

New winter opening hours... We shall be closed each weekday day time, but open for evenings and weekends as usual.

We offer bed & breakfast accommodation in a traditional family run inn. Our menu caters for all tastes and our bar with it's open fire offers a warm and friendly atmosphere!

We are roughly 8 miles from Alton Towers and 7 miles from Leek. For directions, we suggest visiting Via Michelin, using our postcode (ST13 7SP) as your destination. We have a large car park which is strictly for patrons only. Once you reach Butterton, head for the church which we are directly opposite. The entrance to our car park is to the side, taking the first left turn after the front of the pub.

Buffet service
We also offer a buffet service and often take bookings for weddings, funerals, business meetings, or any other event. We offer three choices of buffet menu, but are more than happy to discuss different requests. Buffets are held in our spacious dining-room. Please contact us for details.
